Publication Roundup has a new home

and a new name

If you’re receiving this post via email, it’s because you once signed up for my newsletter via Mailchimp. (Thanks for doing that! You rock!) Over time, Mailchimp became intolerable for me to use. The editing features struggled to load and the site slowed my computer to a crawl. It became so annoying that I just stopped using it altogether and didn’t send out any news or updates about what I have been publishing and working on. So I have switched over to Substack and imported the subscriber list from my previous Mailchimp account. If for any reason you’d rather not receive this newsletter from Substack (you hate Substack because Substack killed your dog, you’ve signed up for way too many newsletters and you barely read them anyway, you aren’t interested in what I’ve been writing and publishing, you hate me because Substack told you I killed your dog so that you wouldn’t suspect Substack) please feel free to unsubscribe. There will be no hurt feelings. In fact, I probably won’t even notice because I don’t know how to check the subscriber list on this platform yet.

But if you’d like to continue to be in the know about what I’ve been working on and where you can find my writing online and in print, then there’s nothing more you need to do apart from read the emails when they arrive. (Or if you’d like, you’ll be able to find all of the newsletter posts online.) Thank you for your continued support of my writing. It really, truly means so very much to me.

Other Thoughts Blog Posts

I have recently started blogging again with some regularity. Mostly this has been an effort to keep up with some kind of a regular writing practice during what has otherwise been a somewhat fallow period for my writing, but I’ve been enjoying the low stakes nature of writing for my blog. With each post, I include either a link to an older publication that feels related in some way, something new that I am working on, or a piece that has been sitting in my drafts folder for a long time. My intention is to update the blog weekly. Links to all of my recent posts are below, but you can also follow along at clairemtaylor.com/blog.

Recent Publications

I have not published quite as much this year as I did in 2021 and 2020, but since I am way behind on sending out these roundups, I have quite a few links to share. I’ll space them out over a few emails, though, so as not to overload anybody.

One Good Thing (poetry) in Lost Balloon

Another Poem About Depression (poetry) in Yellow Arrow Vingette

Remains (fiction) in Remington Review

Parenting Advice (poetry) in Literary Mama

Coming Soon

I have a creative nonfiction piece coming out in the next issue of Variant Lit, and my favorite (and Puschcart nominated) story, “Retreat” will be reprinted online in December with Eunoia Review. “Retreat” was originally published by Capsule Stories in their Autumn 2020 Edition: Burning Up.

Also in the works and heading toward publication is my microchapbook, As Long as We Got Each Other, which is part of ELJ Editions’ Growing Pains volume, available now for preorder. As Long as We Got Each Other is a collection of poetry and short prose about coming-of-age intimacy, grief and self discovery with the lyrics from the Growing Pains television theme song woven into the text. I love this collection and am so excited to be able to share it soon.

Other Recommendations

Check out Vic Nogay’s micro poetry chapbook, under fire under water, and Lindsey Heatherly’s collection, What Is Home If Not A Person. I had the pleasure of reading both of these collections before their publications and they are both excellent.
